Milestone Specialty Produce
Situated along the banks of the Youghiogheny River in scenic Buena Vista is Milestone’s state-of-the art hydroponic greenhouse that specializes in growing a variety of specialty lettuces. But we just don’t grow greens. We grow people too. Milestone Specialty Produce trains and employs people with disabilities to work in this unique setting.
Why Hydroponics? Plants can be grown year-round in a controlled environment that reduces or eliminates the need for harmful pesticides and food-borne illnesses and is environmentally sustainable.
Varieties: Bibb (also called Boston or Butterhead), Romaine, Waldmann’s Leafy Green, Lolla Rosa and Oak Leaf. Other varieties can also be grown and it can be packaged per the customer’s request.
