Senior Services (New Horizon)

New Horizon is a day program for seniors. Located in Pittsburgh’s Penn Hills community, New Horizon is a dual-licensed older adult living center and adult training facility. The facility is available to anyone with aging issues regardless of chronological age. Group and individual programming is conducted in a small, relaxed, home-like environment where health, nutrition, exercise, cultural endeavors and socialization are the core of daily activities.

Vocational Training - Milestone Prevocational Enterprise Program

Through Vocational Training, Milestone clients receive on-the-job training through different packaging assignments contracted from community businesses. The vocational education is designed to promote community employment, personal and team success, safety and professionalism.

The Center provides structured activities through both work and non-work program components that enhance the experience for clients, who also learn important independent living skills.

Additionally, this program acts as a “stepping stone” for individuals coming out of the school system or other setting who may not have an understanding of the expectations of a work environment and need a gradual introduction to work.

Yough Adventure Program

The Yough Adventure Program teaches clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities outdoor skills, such as gardening, life skills, responsibility and teamwork. Milestone's greenhouse and picnic areas along the Youghiogheny River provide perfect opportunities for clients to grow flowers and vegetables and maintain a welcoming respite for walkers, runners and cyclists who travel the Yough River Trail near Buena Vista, PA. When weather is inclement, clients learn and practice horticultural skills at Milestone’s facility in Monroeville.

The program is available Monday through Friday. Times may vary according to the season.
